I’ve got a couple of trips planned over the next few months (which is really unlike me, the last night away I had was October last year…) and I always have to condense my makeup to a small selection of key items to see me through. I did a post like this when I went away last year (which you can read here) but I feel like when I travel in Summer, my needs are a little different – so I’m going to share with you the makeup that I cannot go anywhere without.
So obviously brushes don’t count, I’ll just pack a basic selection of face and eye brushes/sponges etc. The first makeup item is primer, this is a vital step of my makeup routine no matter where I’m going. I have dry skin and my foundation can sometimes go a little patchy if I haven’t used a primer. My current favourite is the e.l.f hydrating primer, it does have a bit of a greasy feel to it which I’m not crazy about and I’m also not keen on the smell, but it does the job really well.
Next is obviously foundation, concealer and powder. I’m currently using the Nip+Fab Foundation, the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and the RCMA No Color Powder. These are all relatively small in terms of packaging which makes them ideal for travel, my only gripe is the RCMA No Color packaging is a bit awkward to work with but it’s nothing too drastic.
I like to keep my eye makeup simple when I’m travelling, unless it’s an exciting event of course. I’ll take my Zoeva Graphic Brows pencil in Arsenic, this is my all time favourite brow pencil and I plan on dedicating a whole post to it soon. I’ll take my Beauty Killer palette by Jeffree Star Cosmetics, the shade Courtney is my favourite just to add dimension to my lids and I’ll maybe deepen it a little further with Vanity. I always add winged liner using my Zoeva Cat Eye Pen, this is just a really user friendly liquid eyeliner that stays put all day long. I’ll also take my trusty Soap & Glory Thick and Fast mascara, I usually don’t bother with false lashes during the day so on this occasion they’ll be staying home!
The last base bits I’ll pack are the Milani Baked Bronzer in Soleil and the Urban Decay Afterglow Highlighter Palette just to add a bit of warmth and glow to my face.
I usually like to take a few lipsticks just so I have some choice, I’ll take the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Morocco just in case I feel slightly adventurous, the Nyx High Voltage Lipstick in Stone and the GOSH Lip Pen in Baby Baby.
I find that by taking these products I can put quite a few different looks together, I can easily do a natural daytime look and then add a little drama if need be!
